Slavita & Flavius – Gold Coast

Recently, I was lucky enough to photograph the wedding of Slavita Romac and Flavius Popa. This wedding was huge – it seemed like half the Romanian population of Australia turned out to attend the ceremony and then party on at the reception afterwards. Slavita’s parents, Frank and Petra, did a great job organizing what was a gargantuan event, with 300 guests, several bands and dance troups, singing, ceremony, fun and games – all until the wee hours of the morning.

I shot this one with my sister, which was lucky, because there was no shortage of people to photograph — and not enough time to do it all! First of all we went to Slavita’s parent’s house, where we took a bunch of pics of the couple getting ready, as well as all the details that make wedding days so special.

Afterwards, we rushed to the ceremony, which took place in the Greek Orthodox Church of St Anna at Bundall. Slavita and Flavius looked amazing, and the ceremony was grand and romantic. There was time afterwards for a few photos of the guests outside the church, and then we hurtled off to the Gold Coast Botanic Gardens at Ashmore for some more photos. Luckily the weather was fine, and we took some nice pics by the lakeside.

Next, we travelled to Emerald Lakes, which has a nice European feel to it. I took the couple and the bridal party to a few nice locations in the area, where we took some formal shots, and one particularly saucy photo.

And then we were off again – this time to the nearby reception. There I hung out with the guests until late, taking plenty of photos.

Great wedding, beautiful couple. Congratulations guys!
