Cassia & Cameron – Currumbin

Cassia and Cameron got married at Len Wort Park at Currumbin on a beautiful day in late December. The park is a wonderful place for nuptials; close enough to the beach to see and hear the ocean, but just back far enough that the wind and sand doesn’t cause too much havoc to the ceremony. There are trees for shade, the ground is firm for walking, and there are wonderful places not too far away for photos.

Cassia looked absolutely stunning as she walked down the sandy aisle, led by her beautiful bridesmaids and of course, her flowergirls. Cameron didn’t look too bad himself; nor did his groomsemen who flanked him, and who stood by him that day as they must have stood by him in days past – there was a bond between them that seemed to me particularly strong.

The ceremony went by and the documents were signed, and then we went for a walk to the beach to take some more photos. Afterwards, at the cusp of evening, we went back to teh Currumbin RSL for the reception, which was much like the rest of the day – warm, joyous, understated, self-assured.

I was honoured to have been a part of the wedding, and I wish Cassia and Cameron all the best in the future. I hope you enjoy the sample photos!

Stacey & Charlie – Cabarita

I recently had the great good fortune to be invited to photograph the wedding of Stacey and Charlie, which took place at Cabarita. Groom and grooms-men were dressed in traditional Scottish attire, including kilt pins, sporrans and whisky flasks, and looked like they’d walked straight out of the highlands. Stacey and her bridesmaids kept to tradtitional anglo wedding attire, and looked absolutely stunning.

The ceremony was a simple and beautiful affair, which took place under a copse of pandanus trees near the beach. Afterwards, we went down to the sand and took some photos, and then went to the Cabarita Headland for some more photos with the ‘lovedub’ combi van they had hired for the day. Stacey and Charlie were wonderful subjects – very easygoing and lots of fun.

When we had finished we went to Mantra on Salt Beach for the reception, where I took a few photos and then left them to enjoy the rest of their evening. There was one last surprise before I left: a Scottish Bagpiper, who led the couple in to a standing ovation.

Beautiful.

Hope you liek the sample pictures, guys; many more to come!

Alicia & Jarrod – Kingscliff

A few weeks back I had the honour of photographing the wedding of Alicia and Jarrod, which took place at Mantra on Salt Beach, Kingscliff.

It was a beautiful day, and the bride looked absolutely stunning as she walked through the gardens towards the waiting guests and her soon-to-be husband. The ceremony was simple and elegant, and when all was done the couple sealed their vows with a kiss.

Afterwards, we drove to nearby Cabarita for some location shots. The beach was picture-perfect, and the bridal party looked amazing – all in all, a good result for a photographer!

When we finished out photo shoot we returned to Mantra for some more photos, before we left the couple to enjoy their reception and the last few hours of the first day of their married life.

Enjoy the sample photos, guys – video highlights coming soon!

Fiataui & Candice – Burleigh

Fiataui and Candice’s wedding was one of the most memorable I’ve photographed in a long time. The nuptials were set to take place on Burleigh headland, and in the hours prior to ceremony dark thunderclouds could be seen gathering over the Gold Coast hinterland. Several guests asked my opinion on whether the ceremony ought to be delayed, but I assured them that the storm was of the teacup variety, and would dissipate harmlessly before the bride arrived. Moments later a tornado struck, and we all fled screaming to a nearby shelter.

I then delivered the unfortunate news to the huddled guests that the weather had set in, and the ceremony would surely need to be abandoned. A few minutes later the rain ceased, the sun broke from behind the black clouds, and the wind became still.

Then the bride arrived, strolling out from beneath a sunburst as if nothing had happened. It was like a miracle.

The ceremony went by without a hitch, with a local celebrant and a Samoan priest sharing duties. When couple sealed their vows with a kiss the crowd applauded, then gathered around to congratulate the newly-weds. Candice was stunning in her classic white dress, and Fiataui struck a handsome and imposing figure in his traditional garb.

Afterwards, we went to Currumbin for some photos at the Alley, and then we went to the Currumbin RSL for the reception. The evening passed pleasantly, but without any unusual happenings, until it was time for the bridal waltz. And then we were all treated a very special traditional Samoan dance, performed with exceptional skill by both the bride and groom.

It was an honour to have been a part of the wedding, and to have shared such a special event with two warm and loving people. I wish you guys all the best for the future, and I hope you like the sample photos. Many more to come!

Katie & Nathan – Burleigh Heads

Last weekend I had the great pleasure of photographing the wedding of Nathan & Katie Lawler. I started out with the boys at the Swell Resort, Burleigh, and afterwards moved on to the Mediterranean, where the bride and bridesmaids were getting ready. Next I moved on to Mick Shamburg Park to await the nuptials – along with a very healthy crowd of onlookers! It was a typically gorgeous winters day on the Gold Coast, and the bride completed the picture when she arrived. Beautiful!

After the ceremony we took some photos around the area, then made our way back to the North Burleigh Surf club, where the reception was held. Some great speeches, with the best man’s address a highlight.

A great wedding, and a wonderful couple. All the best, guys!

Abbie & Nick – Kingscliff, Tweed Valley

A few weeks back I was fortunate enough to shoot the wedding of Abbie and Nick. The ceremony took place at Mantra on Salt Beach, at Kingscliff in the Tweed Valley. It had been raining all week, but it cleared up on the day of the wedding, giving us bright blue skies and plenty of sunshine. After the ceremony, I took the bride and groom down to the beach for a few shots, then over to Cabarita for a few more. Afterwards, we went back to the hotel for the reception. The bride and groom made a beautiful couple, and they made my job as a photographer very easy! Congratulations guys!
